Photography As there are so many people taking photos, I thought it might be fun to have a photography section for people to show off in. (and maybe help others out)
They don't have to be of dogs, but they do have to be fit for public viewing - if you get what I mean. |

We are going to run an auction from the Sunday 20th November until 9pm Sunday 4th December. The highest bid posted before 9pm wins the item. All funds raised will be in aid of Woof Beginnings, and used to assist the rescue that we have registered with us.
From now until the start of the auction we are going to be listing the items we will be auctioning. The listings will remain locked till the start, but it will give you all a chance to see what we have and decide what you would like to bid for.
If you can all tell your friends and colleagues about this event, and lets see just how many people we can get on here before the server keels over and dies because of the strain!!

Clicking on this link will take you to a Download page. On there is a Standing Order form for those that would like to do something regularly.
On the main site there is now a donate button at the bottom of the menu. This will allow people to donate using paypal.
For those that don't trust the electronic age, cheques can be sent to :-

Woof Beginnings Swap Shop Welcome to the Woof Beginnings Swap Shop.
Unfortunatly there has to be some rules - so here goes :
This section is for WB site members to swap their items with each other, or to raise funds so that we can help even more rescues.
If you are selling an item, please be aware that you can not sell the item for personal gain.
Cheques should be made payable to Woof Beginnings and not the individual. If you are using PayPal, please send to paypal@woofbeginnings.co.uk
A percentage payment is not allowed. In other words Swap Shop can not be used to sell and item and then make a partial donation.
When sending an item please obtain a proof of postage slip from the post office and retain this until you are sure that your item has arrived safely. After all we are talking about Royal Mail here!
When you recieve your item, please tell the person you got it off so that they know all is well.
We will not be able to allow items of an adult nature, there are children around you know, or which may be considered "slightly dodgy" and leave us open to trouble with the boys in blue!
If there are any question, ask a moderator. They will be pleased to help.
And above all have fun
The Woof Beginnings Team |

Dogs For Homing |
|
 |
Dogs For Rehoming In this section are the dogs that our registered rescues have asked us to display for them. WE ARE NOT A RESCUE CENTRE, AND THESE DOGS ARE WITH THE VARIOUS RECUES FEATURED ON THIS SITE. These can be found in the section below. Please contact the rescue that has the dog. The details will be in the post.
Also, this is not for private indivisuals to post their own dogs. If you have a dog you wish to put up for adoption YOU MUST CONTACT YOUR LOCAL RESCUE CENTER. They have the facilties to perform this task properly. We do not.
Once a dog has been homed, the thread will be marked accordingly, and then locked.
This topic will be heavily moderated. Any post that does not follow the rules will be removed. |

Animal Foster Group We are a small group of animal fosterers who have been in animal care for years.
We foster animals till we find them new homes, which can take anything from days, to weeks or sometime even years.
We all do this on a voluntary basis in our spare time.
We run totally on kind donations which go straight to our ongoing Vets and food bills, every penny is spent on the animals for food and veterinary treatment.
All animals are fostered in our own homes which is hard at times, but very rewarding when we find a new home for each animal.
We are always looking for people who are willing to foster animals for us till permanent homes can be found.
We mainly foster cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, goats, ponys, and birds. Occasionly dogs too, if we have the foster space we need.
We also have help from a lovely lady known as the dog listener. She is always there to help with any problems. We also have great local vets who are always willing to give us any advice needed.
We are a small group but if we can´t help we pass on telephone numbers of other rescues and organisations that may be able too.
We are of the opinion that all animal groups should help each other if possible .

Boxer Dog Rescue Northern England Boxer Dog Rescue are based in the North West of England, we are a rescue dedicated to helping boxers in need.
We have a NO DESTRUCTION POLICY and never put a healthy dog to sleep. All dogs prior to rehoming are neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and de-flead. All rescue dogs are assessed and rehomed to match each individual family.
Many people think boxers in rescue have behavioural problems, but this is not always the case, most dogs that come to us are given up through no fault of their own, some of them have been abused, or no longer needed now that they are too old to breed from, some have came from loving family homes but unfortunately have to be given up because of a change in circumstances.

Doris Banham Sanctury Lincoln Doris Banham was a dedicated animal lover throughout her life who sadly died in November 2001. The following year in June 2002 her daughter, Trudie James, decided to honor her life and dedication to animals by establishing The Doris Banham Sanctuary.
The charity was set up to help all animals, but as we became increasingly aware of the heart breaking needless destruction of unclaimed dogs in dog pounds, we vowed to help them and the charity has developed to provide an essential life saving rescue service for these forgotten dogs.
We are a non-profit organisation and rely totally on fundraising and donations to save these animals. |

Dumfriesshire and Cumbria Greyhound Rescue Why, you may wonder, does Dumfriesshire and Cumbria need a greyhound rescue organisation? - Updated 6th April 2008
Well the truth is that Dumfriesshire is home, at Gretna, to one of the five remaining Scottish greyhound racing tracks. In addition the track is just a mile from the border with Cumbria and it attracts clients from much further afield. And where there is greyhound racing there are retired or abandoned dogs.
In December 2001 some concerned owners of retired greyhounds and friends decided that something needed to be done to improve the lot of ex-racing and ex-coursing dogs. Dumfriesshire Greyhound Rescue came into existence. Although we are based in Scotland, our constitution covers ‘Dumfriesshire and surrounding areas’. ‘Surrounding areas’ is mainly Cumbria, though depending upon circumstances has been further away.

Freshfields Animal Rescue Welcome to Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre. Our shelter has been helping animals in distress for over 25 years. There have been many difficult times to face over those years and there may be many more to come as life is never easy in an animal sanctuary but the one thing that remains constant is the steady stream of animals which arrive here in need of kindness and care. Some are badly traumatised by their experiences, others are merely bewildered but here at Freshfields they are guaranteed a chance for a better life. Thousands have been given that chance since the sanctuary started and our hopes and plans for the future will ensure that not only will this continue but our facilities will improve so that we can continue to do justice to the animals placed in our care. |

Greyhound and Lurcher Welfare Rescue Greyhound and Lurcher Welfare and Rescue was set up following the closure of the Glastonbury Racetrack. We were concerned that greyhounds and lurchers which were seen by trainers as no longer "useful" might be put to sleep, and we wanted to offer a real alternative to this. We collect the unwanted dogs from the trainers and care for them until new "forever" homes can be found for them. In the beginning, we concentrated on the Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset areas, as this tends to be the catchment area for the Glastonbury Racetrack dogs. We have now expanded to include the areas around Poole, Bournemouth and Southampton. |

Greyhound Rescue North East Greyhound Rescue North East is a very small UK voluntary organisation dedicated to the work of re-homing retired Greyhounds, Whippets and the odd Lurcher. Most of our dogs have been rescued by Steven Duncan and kept in his private kennels until the right home comes along. As we are based in the North East, preference will be given to people living in this area and parts of North Yorkshire. As with most Greyhounds, ours have retired from the racing industry. |

Greyhounds Galore Our aim is to rescue as many greyhounds and lurchers as we possibly can. They make absolutely wonderful pets. They are loyal, gentle, loving couch potatoes.
We are a non-profit organisation that relies solely on public donations and the support of our volunteers. We don't have our own kennels so we rely heavily on foster families and private boarding kennels to house our dogs until they find their forever homes. We organise a number of events throughout the year and have regular meet and greets, which are great social events.

Grinshill Animal Rescue We are a small, family run rescue centre situated in the picturesque village of Grinshill - 8 miles north of Shrewsbury (off the A49 Whitchurch road).
Our house and kennels nestle into the base of Grinshill hill and we are surrounded by woods and fields - haven for cats and dogs alike. We started rescuing dogs approximately 9 years ago, taking in battered and abused animals and generally helping people when they could no longer look after their animals for one reason or another.
As the years progressed, the work has increased. We built more kennels and in October 1996 we built a cattery. No matter how much space is made with new kennels and cattery, there is never enough room - we always have waiting lists for dogs & cats to be re-homed.
We have a Non-Destruction Policy unless absolutely necessary, due to the animal's condition.
Our aim is to rehabilitate and re-home all animals to suitable, caring homes. All homes are checked before and after re-homing. The dogs are vaccinated and neutered, and cats neutered. As we are only a small sanctuary our animals all have individual love and attention.
We are limited to what we can do by the strength of our resources, both financial and human. We are short in both areas and are appealing for help. We need more people to help raise funds and carry out other voluntary tasks, such as 'dog walking', if you can spare a little of your time then your help would be most welcome.

Halfway Home Dog Rescue Halfway Home was started in April 2005 in support of another dog rescue, to hold dogs coming from "death row" situations in northern pounds. Then in December 2005 we started homing dogs for another rescue with a lot of success. They decided that they no longer needed our help, so we decided to go it alone in May 2006, and now carry out dog rehoming directly from our own kennels in Collingham, Notts. We are only a very small rescue, dedicated to helping stray and unwanted dogs find a new home. All our costs are met by donations and fundraising activities such as car boot sales, etc. |

Hillside Dog Rescue Since 1995 we have already helped and found homes for many dogs that have come our way, and now we have set up Hillside Dog Rescue to place many more in loving, permanent homes. To avoid further unnecessary breeding we will, of course, ensure that all dogs coming into our care will be neutered; also vaccinated and micro-chipped, and we always carry out a home check. We already have several dogs in our care, including some strays rescued from death row in pounds from across the country. One of our main aims in setting up Hillside Dog Rescue is to encourage would-be dog owners to give a home to a rescued dog and not to support dog breeders by buying a puppy. We will care for ALL our rescued dogs until we can find them a suitable home.

Labrador Lifeline Trust We are the Labrador Lifeline Trust a registered charity that rescue, rehomes, rehabilitates where necessary, Labrador Retrievers irrespective of age, infirmity or in need of training. We run a system whereby we match dogs to homes and homes to dogs and in the majority of cases know the full history of the dog. We cannot afford to import dogs from elsewhere as we are kept extremely busy with dogs in our own area, especially at the moment with the financial situation. We currently have over 50 dogs on our list, some still in their own homes and others in foster or kennels. We are always in need of people to join us as a volunteer to vet homes, move dogs. No one is paid in this Organisation and every penny that comes in is spent in the maintenance of our dogs. |

Labrador Welfare We rescue and re-home Labrador Retrievers who, through no fault of their own, need new homes.
When a dog is handed over to us for adoption it is taken in to Boarding Kennels run by 2 of our Trustees. This is to make life easier for those handing dogs over to us, and also the potential adopters who can meet the dog chosen for them without any pressure. We are also able to assess the dogs whilst they are in kennels, thus helping us to match dogs with their new owners.
We only invite people to meet the dog they have been matched up with.
Please note visits to the kennels are by appointment only!
When matching dogs to new owners we take into consideration the dog’s previous experience: used to children, cats, other animals etc. and match it as closely as possible with it’s new owner.

Limerick Animal Welfare Limerick Animal Welfare is a registered charity, founded in 1983, dedicated to caring for abandoned and neglected animals in the Limerick area. Over the last five years we have saved more than 2000 animals. We aim to promote the humane treatment of all animals, working towards a more compassionate Society. We believe in educating young people about responsible pet ownership. We regularly give talks to primary and secondary schools. In this way we hope to educate and inform the animal owners of tomorrow and encourage them to make kindness and respect for all animals a way of life. We aim never to destroy an animal unless it is so ill that we cannot alleviate its suffering. It is our policy to spay/neuter all dogs and cats before rehoming. At any one time we care for approximately 60 dogs and 30 cats.
Phase One of our Sanctuary at Moorestown, Kilfinane, was finally completed in December 2007. Our first isolation kennel for dogs opened its doors to the abandoned animals just before Christmas. We are most grateful to all the generous animal lovers who donated funds for this wonderful building. The Sanctuary now provides shelter for 35 dogs, 15 cats, two goats, two pot-bellied black pigs, and two rabbits. The next arrivals will be a donkey and a pony. We continue to kennel our greyhounds and lurchers at Saffron Hill, Doneraile, and we also have mixed breed dogs awaiting homes at Caherconlish. We also continue to house cats at Newport until our new cattery is ready.
We now face the huge task of starting Phase Two of the Sanctuary Building Project, which is the main building. This is estimated to cost in the region of one million euro and will incorporate a rehoming area for dogs and another for cats. The plans also include offices, a veterinary clinic and living accommodation for staff. Phase Three, the final building, will be the isolation kennel for cats and kittens.
We feel confident that with your support, our "Field of Dreams" will become a reality for all the homeless animals of Limerick city and county.

Northern Greyhound Rescue Northern Greyhound Rescue is a small voluntary group in the North West/Lancashire area dedicated to improving the lives of Greyhounds and Lurchers. Other Sighthounds may on occasion also come into our care. Permanent and foster homes are always needed for the dogs.
The dogs come to us from both licensed tracks and unregulated or 'flapping tracks' and we also take in stray hounds. The dogs are then housed in either foster homes or private boarding kennels until loving new homes can be found for them. We also look for new homes for dogs who for many reasons, generally through no fault of their own, can no longer stay in their present homes.
As we are an independent organisation, we cover costs personally and through fundraising and donations. Volunteers are always needed and welcomed to help us out with fundraising, transportation etc |

Oldies Club Oldies Club (UK registered charity number 1118246) helps older dogs find forever homes. We rescue and rehome older dogs via a network of foster homes. The dogs we help are aged 7 plus and most are ten years or older. Some have been neglected, or their owners were unable to care for them properly due to their own ill health. Due to this, our vet bills are rather high and any financial help is much appreciated. We need good homes to adopt our dogs and volunteers to foster, homecheck, transport, fundraise, attend events, make dog coats and put up posters. We also work with other UK rescues to publicise the plight of their older dogs and help them find loving new homes too. Please visit Oldies Club if you would like to offer an older dog a new home or would like to volunteer.

Rain Rescue Rain Rescue was started in 2003 by a few people who had witnessed the plight of abandoned dogs – left lost, helpless and unwanted or ‘surplus to requirements’ in stray kennels. They saw that many of these dogs , whose fate was at the mercy of which council they had been lost or abandoned in – was dependant on the post code they had been picked up in.
Dogs lost or abandoned in some places, where there wasn’t a huge over-population of dogs – odds are would be re-united with their owners – or be re homed to a new home. For those unfortunate dogs that had been either born into, lost and wandered into or sadly thrown out onto the streets of a city where there was already a large volume of abandoned dogs – for these dogs – their fate was more uncertain.

The Animal House Rescue Birmingham We are a small Birmingham based rescue, which takes in unwanted, abused and abandoned animals. All the animals that come into our care are treated for fleas, ticks, mites and worms, they also have a full veterinary 'm.o.t', and are neutered and inoculated before going to their new homes.
We do not use kennels, instead we have foster homes, which enable us to see the animals behaviour in a home environment, then any problems can be dealt with and we can re-home them to the most appropriate place. |

The Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Society In June 2006 I took on a dog that was destined for death row, he was head shy and afraid, I took him home. With nowhere to put him, and with him being dog-aggressive with my dog, I found him somewhere to stay and with help from other rescuers, was able to find him a home. With my job being an Animal Welfare Officer lots of dogs were coming my way including abandoned puppies and RSPCA cases. Somehow I took them home and found places that would take them on and rehome them. Something was still missing in what I was doing, and it was the rehoming part, the rescue bit was natural, but I wanted to see where the animals were going and I wanted to stay in touch. This is when The Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Society was born. |

The Laughing Dog Dog’s that are found roaming the streets are often picked up by Dog Wardens and taken to their local pounds. By law the dogs have to be kept at the kennels for 7 days during which time the owner can reclaim them. The other dogs, if they are lucky, can then be re-homed or, unfortunately, put to sleep.
The Laughing Dog was set up by a small group of people who were concerned that too many healthy, and, sometimes, young dog’s fate lie in the balance. In the main most of the dogs come to us from dog pounds as strays but we are often asked for help from Social Services and other sources where dogs are due to be put to sleep. Without our intervention many of these dogs would die.
In September 2010, the kennels in Oswaldtwistle took on three new contracts from other local authority areas and now have in excess of 30 stray dogs each week. The kennels will only put to sleep if they are full and they need to make room for new dogs coming in.
Once the dogs have completed their 7 days and we know they are not going to be reclaimed or re-homed by the kennels, Homeless Hounds notify us. Then the Laughing Dog ‘troops rally and spring into action’ We work hard to find safe havens for all the dogs needing our help.
We kennel the dogs until we can relay the dogs the length and breadth of the country to rescue centres that MUST HAVE a NO KILL policy and neuter and vaccinate all dogs. The vets bills and boarding fees add up and can be costly.
